Fall Salmon Recap

September and October offered spectacular chinook salmon fishing across Northwest Michigan. Stable water conditions, favorable weather, and a solid run of kings made for a very enjoyable season.

We fished across multiple river systems, finding success in the Betsie, Pere Marquette, and Big Manistee Rivers. We focused primarily in the lower sections of all three systems, pursuing fresh-run salmon close to lake Michigan. Our kings this fall averaged 10-15 pounds, with a few exceptional fish pushing 20.

Recently, we’ve shifted gears to chasing fall steelhead. So far, the season has been excellent with chrome fish hitting the net on every outing. We’ll be leaning harder into these amazing fish as November rolls on and the run continues to build.

I’ll keep this one short, and finish with a few highlight pictures from the last 8 weeks of salmon season ~ Cole
